Perfect weather conditions were on hand for the playing of Round 4 Pennant on Sunday 24th March with mixed results for our teams. 1 Win, 1 Halve & 1 Loss.
Women’s Pennant Round 4
The Women’s team headed to Sandhurst hoping to keep their winning form going in a match against 2nd on the table The National.
The matches were tight all day, our number 1 & 2 players played fantastic golf both taking out their respective matches Lisa Teo 3&2, Emily Smith 1up, Hannah Cho proved to good for her opponent winning her match comfortably 5&3 and continues her fantastic form. With Kallista Do, Emma Pearce and Billie Tate going down in their matches it w
as all down to HGC young gun Kelly Zhou who played magnificent golf throughout the day. Unfortunately, she came up agonisingly short losing her game on the 5th play off hole in what was described to be nothing short of a thriller. Our team will now set their focus to two weeks’ time where they will look to take down 3rd place Kingston Heath @ The National.
Youth Pennant Round 4
The Youth team was playing at Victoria GC in a match up against Metropolitan GC and our team put in a great effort to earn a draw 2.5-2.5. Jackson Traplin led the team out at #1 and won 2/1, Zach Bocuhier played great golf and halved his match, Leo Li won his match at #5 2up. Dario Salazar and Cameron Lajosi fought hard but unfortunately went down in their matches. Next match for our Youth team is against Victoria GC @ Peninsula Kingswood GC in two weeks’ time.
Men’s Pennant Round 4
The final match of the day was our Men’s team who were up against Rossdale at Yarra Yarra, with the table being tightly bunched every week will prove pivotal in their hope to earn their spot back in Division 1.
Elbert Kim 6&4, Rupert Toomey 4&3, Josh Reiter 4&3 & Olly Smith 3&1 played superb golf and all won their matches. Cameron Pascoe, Cameron Taylor & Jamie Cornish were defeated despite their best efforts. This resulted in a narrow 4/3 win to Huntingdale.
The team currently sits in fourth position on the ladder albeit only dropping 1 match. Our squad will all enjoy a week off before getting back into it against Kingston Heath @Northern in a fortnights time.
