Betty Jeffrey Book Launch

Many have heard the inspirational story of Betty Jeffrey and read “White Coolies”. We have been advised of the launch of a new book about Betty Jeffrey and her nursing colleagues, and given the opportunity to attend. If you cannot attend you may be interested in purchasing the book. Please see all details below and an invitation attached.

The Australian Nurses Memorial Centre Board is proud to extend an invitation to attend a very special book launch:

“Sisters in Captivity; Sister Betty Jeffrey OAM and the courageous story of Australian Army nurses in Sumatra 1942-1945” by Australian author Colin Burgess.

This book is a combination of the literary and research skills of Colin Burgess, and many hours of collaboration with the family members of Betty Jeffrey, sifting through archive and family material, culminating in what will be a great read.

A portion of the proceeds of the sale of each book will benefit the Australian Nurses Memorial Centre. Books will be available for purchase on the day, courtesy of Eltham Bookshop.

We hope that you can join us at the ANMC venue, Suite 11 431 St Kilda Road (enter via Slater St) Saturday 22nd July from 2:00 – 4:00pm

Afternoon tea will be provided. RSVPs are essential to secure your spot.
